What system specifications to look for in a programming laptop?
Most of the programming tasks are not high CPU intensive. As a programmer, you would be running Integrated Development Environments (IDEs) like Android Studio, Eclipse, NetBeans, Visual Studio, Xcode to name a few. You would be just fine with dual-core i5 or i7 processor. You will need at least 8GB of system RAM and decent HDD/SSD for storage. The screen size should not be more than 15 inches. The important thing to keep in mind is the battery life. The laptop should not be bulky. That’s it!

Graphics card is not needed if your sole purpose is programming web applications, mobile apps and other similar kinds of work. However, if you’re into game development (both PC and Mobile) you will require a powerful graphics card for rendering and other GPU intensive tasks.
